Bay Area Waterborne Transportation Study

Imagine visiting several locales along Clear Lake and Galveston Bay without ever getting into your car. Instead, water transportation services would cruise you from one destination to the next. It’s not your imagination…it’s soon to be a reality in Seabrook.

The Bay Area Waterborne Transportation Study, commissioned by the Seabrook EDC, analyzed the feasibility of developing a water taxi service to encourage redevelopment of waterfront lands in Seabrook. This service would:

The study reviewed existing water taxi systems, analyzed potential landing sites, outlined a long-range system plan, identified a demonstration route and set the framework for a partnership to recruit public and private participation in the program. The Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership (BayTran) has agreed to serve as project facilitator and is working with regional organizations and Bay Area city leaders to move this project forward.
